Baldwin County is the largest county east of the Mississippi River. Baldwin County is located between Mobile, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida. Interstate 10 divides the county north and south and Interstate 65 runs through the northern part of the county connecting to the beaches via Alabama Highway 59. Baldwin County has 4 municipal airports and is located within an hour's drive of Mobile Regional Airport and Pensacola Airport. The population of the county topped 150,000 people in 2003 and is expecting to approach 200,000 by 2010. However, even with the rapid growth of Baldwin County, the heritage, recreation and natural resources are being protected for everyone to enjoy.

With 32 miles of beaches on the Gulf of Mexico and 26 miles bay frontage, water activities abound. From fishing to water skiing, from sailing to scuba diving, Baldwin County has it all. If water is not your cup of tea, then tee it up at one of 18 golf courses or take a drive to historic Fort Morgan or Battleship Park. If you would like just to get back to nature, then visit the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge or Week's Bay Estuary.

Baldwin County has 12 municipalities and several communities. Bay Minette is the county seat with satellite court houses located in Foley and Fairhope for the convenience of its citizens. All municipalities have staffed police forces along with the county Sheriff's department. Most areas are protected by close knit, well trained volunteer fire departments with state of the art fire fighting equipment. Some of the cities have full time paid firemen and firemedics to assist in case of emergencies.

A host of events occur during the year in the county. In the fall and Spring we enjoy the Elberta German Sausage Festival, in October the National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores, and quality football and other sports at our local schools. Numerous arts and crafts festivals are held throughout the year including the Fairhope Fine Arts Festival and the Strawberry Festival in Loxley.
